I have to confess that when I accepted Jesus as my savior, I really didn't understand the role of the Holy Spirit. I'm not saying I completely understand His role now, but I do understand that He dwells in me as the gift bestowed on me when I pledged my faith. The biggest question in my life right now is how I got through 75 years without Him. Looking back, I can see how lost I was and how blessed I now am to have Him. What an incredible, amazing difference He has made.

Mike, you are not alone when it comes to the Holy Spirit. It's sad to see so many people not tap into the power available to them (Acts 1:8). Verse 13b is a powerful verse. "The spirit will lead us into all truth." In a post truth society in which truth is relative, we need a true plumb line as an anchor for reality. The anchor is the Holy Spirit. I believe jesus forknew all the generations and centuries (including ours) that would come when truth would be thrown out and trampled on the streets. This is why we need Holy Spirit so badly and why it's expedient that Jesus made way for Holy Spirit.

Can you imagine what it would be like without the Holy Spirit? I think most of us (believers) just take it for granted that we have the Holy Spirit, but it was not always so. The visitation or arrival of the Holy Spirit could not take place until Jesus' work on the cross was done and He ascended. The Prince of the Powers of Darkness (Satan) ruled this earth as he still does, but prior to Jesus coming to earth, Satan's reign was unopposed. Evil ran rampant and humanity was destroying itself and all but Noah's family had turned away from God and brought upon the earth the wrath of God as God destroyed all of humanity (except for Noah and his family) through the flood. And now we are witnessing such a great release of evil upon the earth that is beyond all evil seen before and the human race is bringing destruction upon themselves again and the judgment of God again, but because of the Holy Spirit, the outpouring of evil is thwarted by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the Kingdom of God is bringing in the Harvest prophesied to happen in the last days. And because of the Holy Spirit we are comforted in the midst of the world's onslaught of evil and insanity. It is unimaginable just how bad it would be if we didn't have the Holy Spirit.
