Thank you for clarifying that, Pastor Jeff. I thought Jesus changed Simon's name to "The Rock" after watching him try to walk on water. [that's an attempted joke]
OK, this passage made me think of what it would be like to realize that one who walks among us is the Messiah, the Son of God, God incarnate. How would a human process that? How would you talk to Him? What would that reality feel like? I recently met a man who had been a US Air Force Thunderbird pilot. I was totally star struck....and he was a mere mortal. Meeting and knowing Jesus Christ? Is our mind even capable of grasping that? I don't think mine is.
What drew people to Jesus? Did they seek miracles, or gain or maybe fame? I think they looked in His eyes and saw the miracle of love shining there like a magnet that answered the deep need to find acceptance and mercy.
Love this, Jeff! Imagine if we saw others through the lens of Jesus? Not where they're at now, or what they've done, but who they will become through God's will. Daily reminder raising three boys.
Thank you Jeff for sharing! I love that concept of seeing people through Jesus' lense. It definitely is so easy to judge and try to make sense of other people through their physical appearance or what we see on social media, but only god knows our hearts. I want to make it a practice to try to pause and remember Christ loves everyone and wants all to come to him, no matter what their sins or struggles may be. Praying for all my journey family, today!
